The Golden Years Lifestyle
Golden Years Homestead offers the right place to live at the right time in life.
An assortment of housing-styles allows residents to choose the retirement living that is right for them. Housing-styles include Terrace Homes with attached garages, Villa Homes, Garden Cottage Homes, and our Licensed Assisted Living. Golden Years Homestead understands that a change in a resident's needed care is ever-present; thus, the housing policy makes it possible to transfer to and from apartments and the nursing-care facility, pending a written request.
Golden Years Homestead also combines accessibility with privacy. Located on the northeast side of Fort Wayne, Golden Years is five-minutes from multiple shopping complexes, doctor offices, recreational facilities and interstate 469. Yet, the hustle and bustle of everyday life does not permeate the quiet, home setting of the facilities. Golden Years Homestead is tucked away on 24 acres of land by large hardwoods and pines, as well as quiet neighborhoods.
Everyday needs are right outside your front door. From the barbershop to the exercise lounge, Golden Years provides what you need, where you need it.
Amenities such as a gift and snack shop, library, and weekly rides to a grocery store are all offered to Golden Years residents. Residents also have the option of dining in the restaurant style, main dining room, or reserving the private dining room for special family get-togethers or parties.
Health care services are readily available as well. Parkview Hospital provides weekly lab work and "Walking on Air Foot Care" does monthly foot clinics. Home x-rays, pediatric and emergency nurse care are additional health services provided for residents.
Golden Years also provides a place where friendships can be nurtured. Several lounges, located in the high rise building, offer a place for residents to enjoy playing cards, shooting pool or listening to oldies on the jukebox.
The best service Golden Years Homestead has to offer is a Christ-centered atmosphere that allows its residents the opportunity to live an active, carefree and independent life.
Whether you enjoy a joyful hymn sing, or relaxing in front of the red, brick fireplace, there is always something for the residents of Golden Years Homestead. Activities are geared to the interests of our residents because we're here to serve them. Monthly event calendars are designed for the particular interests and abilities of the residents. Apartment residents enjoy such things as bi-weekly exercise classes, card games, bingo, crafts, woodworking and trips to local attractions, such as the zoo, museums and area festivals. In addition, nursing care residents are escorted on daily walks, have exercises, watch videos, play bingo, arts and crafts and much more. Alzheimer's residents involve themselves with sensory, cognitive and physical activities.

Golden Years' religious foundation is also evident in the activities that they provide. Devotions, hymn sings and worship services are weekly events open to all residents. Golden Years has a full time Chaplain. Several events that all residents enjoy are monthly birthday parties, theme luncheons hosted by Golden Years' staff and musical groups provided by Audience Unlimited, a non-profit group dedicated to providing meaningful activities for people in senior care.
