A Continuing Care Retirement Community
The mission behind Golden Years Homestead's Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) is to ensure your peace of mind for today and tomorrow. For decades, our non-for-profit, Christian foundation has allowed us to hold our aging in reverence by providing multiple care options from independent living; short-term rehabilitation stays to long term care and memory care.
Each living and care option enables residents to age in place while remaining near family and friends in a familiar, safe and loving environment. At Golden Years, we do things a little differently. We have taken great care to combine innovative design and superb care with indulgences and comforts for the ultimate experience.
It is our promise to provide you with exceptional living in a charming and spacious home with numerous services to assure your comfort and satisfaction. Your fulfillment of enriching your social, spiritual and lifestyle needs is important to us. Whether it's making new friends at one of our many social events, sharing a meal in our Garden's Cafe, or tending to your personal garden, you have the opportunity to do more at Golden Years Homestead. Welcome Home.Back to the Top
The dream to provide a community for all senior individuals, not just those in need of nursing care, led to the development of independent living. On April 22, 1979, ground was broken for a four unit independent living building. This building marked the beginning of a different type of ministry. The new community offered a retirement setting for seniors not heretofore provided at Golden Years.
Several additional independent living clusters of apartments were constructed on site over the next few years.
Golden Years Homestead expanded beyond the Fort Wayne area in 1987. They joined forces with churches in Michigan to develop Great Lakes Christian Homes, a 100 unit independent living community with complete ancillary services.
Concurrent with the development in Michigan, a 16-bed dementia special care unit was established at Golden Years in 1989. Due to the enormous need for this type of care, another 16-bed unit for special care services was completed in November 1994.
As the demand for independent retirement living grew, Golden Years Homestead expanded to meet the need. Thirty-eight villa-style units opened in late 1997 on a 5-acre tract just east of the main campus.
God has provided countless blessings. Golden Years Homestead is grateful to so many who through their vision and perseverance have helped make this community the ministry that it is today. The desire of the leadership is to continue dreaming, allowing God to accomplish great things.
"Your facility is so incredible from the moment you walk through the front doors you know that you have not experienced anything like this. It feels like home, looks like home, and the staff makes you feel like family. After 4 days we saw a noticeable difference in his stamina, every day he was getting stronger physically and mentally sharper. The therapy team has done wonders for him!" - Judi Persyn
"When I came to Golden Years, I wasn't walking well and was limited with what I could do. Now, I am able to walk a lot-and have good balance while I do it! I am now independent and am doing all kinds of activities on my own! My whole experience has been really wonderful. All of the therapists are very special people and I would give all of them an A+." - Cindy Sterba
"Licensed Assisted Living at Golden Years has been a Godsend. This is a perfect fit for where dad is at this point in his life. We are so happy with dad living here at Golden Years Homestead. This is one of the best decisions we have made." - Jean Howard
